Harp seals eat a number of things found in the ocean like arctic cod, capelin, decapods, amphipods, crustaceans, and pelagic fish. Most pups eat small crabs after they are weaned.

There is always a downside to the food chain, everyone has to eat. Walrus, sealions, killer whales, and polar bears all eat harp seals.
Harp seals are also hunted by humans. They hunt them down for oil, fur, and leather. The Whitecoats are killed for their silky white fur. They have no defense except to use their camouflage. The adult seals are killed and their blubbler is used for a number of things.
